Hamakua Region

Hamakua is the northeast corner region of the Big Island that was once sugar plantation country. Now it’s full of various farmland and eucalyptus forests.

Most visitors just drive through this part on full circle island tours with a quick stop at Waipio Valley Lookout and Tex Drive In for malasadas.
